Project Description

In 2025, we were honoured to collaborate with the team at Simon Fraser University to develop, design, and deliver the Protocols and Practices for Indigenous and Non-Indigenous Engagement course. After successfully completing our pilot delivery in October 2025, we’re excited to share that confirmed course deliveries are scheduled for 2026 and 2027 with SFU.

This asynchronous online course invites learners to explore:

• The historical and contemporary context of Indigenous and non-Indigenous relations in Canada
• Protocols, governance structures, and collaborative approaches for engaging with Indigenous Peoples and communities
• Systemic factors that influence engagement practices, including both benefits and barriers to collaboration
• Meaningful engagement practices grounded in governance, protocol, and context

Developing and delivering this course has been an incredible journey, and I look forward to the future deliveries ahead.

I’m deeply grateful to my co-collaborator on this project, Connie Strayer. Connie and I have had the privilege of journeying through many projects like this one together. It’s always the best part of our day.
